Pedestrian-Vu and Approach-Vu

Communicate dock dangers with motion sensing systems

To mitigate the dangers facing workers at loading docks, two new products have been added to the Rite-Vu light communication systems family: Pedestrian-Vu for the dock’s interior and Approach-Vu for its exterior.

Pedestrian-Vu uses motionsensing technology to trigger a bright blue light that projects onto the dock leveler when it detects materials handling equipment or a pedestrian’s presence inside the trailer. The blue light flickers as an audible alarm alerts the worker that they’ve entered an unsecured trailer, while the external light system simultaneously changes to red, warning the truck driver that there is activity inside the trailer.

Outside the dock opening (from a fixed position above the door), the Approach-Vu sensor detects a tractor-trailer backing up. This triggers a visual and audible alarm located on the supplier’s Dok-Lok vehicle restraint, alerting workers and pedestrians to the vehicle’s approach.
